For this project I worked with the organizers of the Cinco de Mayo celebration in Columbia State Park. The illustration was based on a 170 year old description of the sword as there are no surviving pictures and the sword itself has been lost to history. I illustrated the eagle head pommel and snake handle but I also made use of Adobe Stock and Firefly for other elements on the handle and scabbard.
The full poster with captions pulled from the translated description of the Sword of Honor.
The above text was also printed and used when the poster was displayed at an art show at Columbia College and was also displayed when the Cinco de Mayo display was brought back for its second year in Columbia State Park.
